B.SC MLS

Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (B.Sc. MLS)
Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (B.Sc. MLS) ) is a three year (6 semesters) program that provides theoretical as well as practical knowledge of diagnosis of different types of diseases through the use of different techniques such as hematological, microscopically and bacteriological techniques. B.Sc. MLS students have opportunity to work as laboratory technologist in hospitals and medical laboratories.

Subjects to be covered:-
The subjects to be taught during the course include Biology, Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Bacteriology, Cell Pathology, Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology and Mycology, Blood Ranking, Parasitology and Virology, Medical Laboratory Management, Environmental Sciences, Human Values, English etc.

Laboratories:-

Biochemistry Lab: – Biochemistry is the branch of science that brings together biology with chemistry. Biochemistry lab deals with diagnostic parameters determined by blood, urine and body fluid samples.

Microbiology Lab: – Microbiology is the study of micro-organism such as bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as ‘microbes’. They are too small to be visible by naked eye. The microbiology laboratory should be able to determine the most frequent microbes causing healthcare-associated infections.
Anatomy and Physiology Lab: – Anatomy and physiology is two terms. Anatomy is the study of internal and external structure of the body. Physiology is the study of the functions of the human body.

Hematology Lab: – Hematology is the study of blood and blood disorders. The Hematology Laboratory performs routine hematology testing, limited coagulation, and various body fluid testing and analysis.
